About Napice
Napice is a modern-day nod to the traditional mulled wines of Europe.
We started with an elegant, rich Merlot and mulled it with a combination of organic natural spices and flavors of citrus, cinnamon, star anise, clove, nutmeg, and vanilla creating a highly fragrant and delicious spiced wine. As with traditional mulled wine, we also added a splash of brandy to elevate the experience.
- Napice is delicious at room temperature
- For a more traditional experience, warm slightly by heating on the stove or for a few seconds in the microwave in a heat resistant vessel.
- Napice is also delicious chilled or as a mixer in a spirit-based cocktail. Try it as a sweet Vermouth replacement in your next Manhattan.
The Founders
Brothers Josh and Joel Reed hail from the picturesque town of Williamsburg, Virginia. If you have ever visited historic Colonial Williamsburg during the holidays, you might understand how they developed a deep fondness of seasonal libations. Williamsburg, with all of its historic finery, captures the holiday spirit similar to Europe where mulled wine (also known as ‘Glühwein’ or ‘Glögg’) is served fresh and warm in restaurants, bars and especially in Christmas markets. Over the years, the brothers travelled extensively through Europe where they reveled in these markets and refined their taste for mulled wine.
Fast forward, the Reed Brothers moved to Northern California where they met their future wives and partners in wine, Carrie and Michelle. They brought their enthusiasm for seasonal mulled wine with them and over the years, the two families experimented with local ingredients and variations before finally landing on the perfect blend. It was then that Napice came to be.

The Story of howNapicewas Born
Brothers Josh and Joel Reed hail from the picturesque town of Williamsburg, Virginia. If you have ever visited historic Colonial Williamsburg during the holidays, you might understand how they developed a deep fondness of seasonal libations. Williamsburg, with all of its historic finery, captures the holiday spirit similar to Germany where mulled wine (or ‘gluhwein’) is served fresh and warm from a variety of vendors during the evening Christmas markets.
Fast forward the Reed Brothers out of Virginia to California where they meet the loves of their lives, Carrie and Michelle. They bring their enthusiasm for this seasonal mulled wine with them and over the years, the two families work endlessly to perfect their yearly homemade mulled wine each holiday to share with friends. Some may even say a friendly competition ensued between the Napa based Reeds and the San Carlos, CA Reeds to create that perfectly seasoned, delicious mulled wine each year.
In 2020, Joel Reed had the novel idea to create a bottled modern version of the family mulled wine recipe and after some convincing, Napice Mulled Wine was born!
